Versant FAQs
The trusted Versant 180 & 3100 evolved into the Versant 280 and 4100 at the end of 2020; faster, more intelligent, and taking heavier weights. The Versant series offers the most adaptable and versatile mid-range digital press capabilities on the market. This page showcases our newest Versant content and leads you to other sources of information. If you are considering an investment, we’d love to talk to you.
In February 2022, Xerox announced XLS Vacuum Feeders for Xerox Versant 4100 and Xerox Versant 280, raising extra-long sheet (XLS) capability to 1.2m. The tray also improves feeding of standard stocks.
In July 2023, Xerox announced updates to the Versant 280 and 4100. With increased high AMPV (Average Monthly Print Volumes) and extended Tested Substrate List (TSL) for both Versant production presses. The 280 now has an AMPV of 150,000 and the 4100 350,000. The Duty Cycle on a 4100 has risen to a whopping 1.8 million.
Why is Versant AMPV higher in 2023?
Experience in the field has proved that Average Monthly Print Volumes on both models – 280 and 4100 – can be significantly higher than those announced at launch due to the durability and reliability of the newest generation of presses.
Not only has the 280’s AMPV risen to 150,000 from 80,000 but the 4100 has gone from 250,000 to 350,000. What’s more, the Duty Cycle on a 4100 has risen by 50% to 1.8 million impressions.
Can a Versant Be Used as a Mono Device?
Yes. In July 2023, Xerox announced that the maximum mono threshold of 20% that appeared in the Customer Expectation and Installation Guide at launch has been removed for both 280 and 4100. This change was made because data from the field showed that the bar was unnecessary.
All that being said, if you are looking to print a great deal of black and white, First Copy would recommend that you consider PrimeLink B Series or Nuvera models as well – they may suit you better.
