Prontaprint Upgrade to Xerox Versant 80

Prontaprint have been providing printing services in Kings Lynn for over 40 years. Historically their main business was Litho Printing, however this is now outsourced and all in house printing is done digitally.

They have a long relationship with First Copy and Xerox, their previous two Digital Presses being a 242 and 550.  When the time came to upgrade the technology another Xerox press was the obvious choice.  “We acquired a major new client and needed to step up quality and efficiency. We have always been happy with the Xerox engineers and quality of service, we didn’t look elsewhere as we have always trusted Xerox, nobody touches them” says Jenny.

Prontaprint - A First Copy Case Study

The problems with the existing presses included slow speeds when using thicker stock problems with second side registration, inaccurate quality, especially between the two presses. The requirement for better imposition software, sharper image quality, better colour registration and replication of litho led to the choice of the Xerox Versant 80 with a Long Sheet Feeder and Booklet maker.

The Versant 80 achieves top speed even on the heaviest stock (350gsm), uses the Automated Colour Quality Suite (ACQS) to ensure accurate and consistent results. The Simple Image Quality Adjustment (SIQA) tool gives the capability to produce higher quality jobs faster.

The Long Sheet Feeder, Booklet maker and Hole Punching give flexibility to produce many printed products.

We are extremely happy with the Versant 80, which we have named ‘Vera’. The time saved on set up and print speed has made a positive impact on our business, from a designers point of view we love the image quality and colour and from a financial point of view we are impressed with the efficiency and pricing” adds Jenny.
