Fidelity’s new machine offers faster printing on heavier stocks up to 400gsm (350gsm duplex) and opens a world of opportunity with vivid colours – in their case, initially gold, silver, white and clear. Fidelity immediately saw the value of ‘Beyond CMYK’ to their in-house designers and the possibilities of new offerings in new markets.
About Fidelity Design and Print
Fidelity is a family business in Bedford, Bedfordshire. In their own words, “We Brand, We Design, We Print….your brand all ways!” The company offers everything from “business cards to banners and beyond” with fast and affordable design and printing services in-house. Fidelity will celebrate their 21st birthday this year (we will celebrate our 30th!), and we have a longstanding relationship.
Already the highest-rated printers in Bedford, with over a hundred 5-star reviews and recommendations across their channels, we can’t wait to see how Fidelity’s print and design work develops with their new machine and technology.
Investing in Versant
First Copy supplied a Xerox Versant 280, Adaptive CMYK+ Starter Pack (Vivid) and a new Ideal 7260 guillotine.
The latest press replaced a Xerox Versant 2100 and 770, which produced quality print for some years. The Xerox Versant 280 will be faster and more adaptable than earlier Versant models, handling weightier stocks and additional colours (white being of special interest in this case). The new Versant 280 supports a marketplace where jobs are often shorter and come with a demand for faster turnaround times.
Louise Hodge, Fidelity’s director, said, “We are pleased to be in receipt of the new Versant 280 and look forward to the increased range of services we are able to offer in-house. CMYK + will enable clients to add high-quality embellishments to their printing quickly and easily and increase the perceived value of their brands. It’s also a positive boon for the new wedding service we started last year, as using gold and silver foils in wedding stationery is notoriously expensive. We intend to offer high-quality wedding print at realistic prices.”
Getting the Best ROI
Companies with in-house designers can grab new opportunities with both hands by learning how to design best for Beyond CMYK‘s capabilities. These new colours, whether vivid or fluorescent, will shake up more traditional designs. They work best where the designer and printer work together to get the most out of the kit. Return on Investment (ROI) is higher with CMYK+, and buyers will pay a premium for it.
Xerox and First Copy understand, however, that just providing a press with new colours is not enough. To maximise opportunities, we offer training about operating CMYK+ presses *and* designing for them. With in-house specialists, including a highly-trained Production Analyst and a Service Desk, First Copy can support new installations with training.
Alongside, Xerox has made available a suite of Graphic Design and File Preparation Guidelines resources. Here is the one for Adaptive CMYK+ for Xerox Versant. What’s more, there are regular online webinars and training opportunities to build skills; find future events in our calendar.
Pandemic Print
We are writing this post during the pandemic, and our teams are following COVID-19 procedures. Although lockdowns don’t entirely prevent us from installing new machines and offering training and support, we need to do it in thoughtful ways.
We know that companies want to invest in the future, as 2021 offers us renewed hope and optimism. We also know that printers are doing their utmost to support other key and critical workers, so we must continue to underpin that crucial service.
